The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve as mental health assessors in relation to DoLS legislation. Developed by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the Department of Health, and NHS England eLearning for Healthcare, this programme ensures a high-quality educational experience that meets the highest standards of professional training.
The course covers a wide range of topics essential for understanding and implementing DoLS legislation. Participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills through interactive content, including case studies and insights from service users and carers. The flexible, online format allows for convenient study at home, work, or on the move, with bitesize modules that track progress, making it ideal for busy professionals.
The programme includes a pre-test on the Mental Capacity Act (MCA), five knowledge sessions, and a final test of understanding.
