Description

The Fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology is a 1-year intensive program that offers advanced training in diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures. Hosted across Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, this fellowship is designed for post-MD/DNB graduates in respiratory medicine.

Participants will gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge procedures such as diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy, cryotherapy, and tracheostomy. Specialized training in advanced techniques like endobronchial ultrasound, airway stenting, and balloon dilation is included. The fellowship also covers anesthesia techniques critical for interventional pulmonology, including jet ventilation and double-lumen endotracheal tube placement.

Fellows will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, managing outpatient clinics, inpatient cases, and night calls in the MICU. The fellowship also includes training in the latest innovations, such as bronchial thermoplasty and endobronchial valve placement for conditions like severe asthma and emphysema. They will also participate in Apollo Simulation Centre training to refine their procedural skills in a controlled environment. Research and academic opportunities, including conference presentations and journal publications, form an integral part of the program. Additionally, fellows will gain leadership skills in managing pulmonary intervention services, ensuring they can lead multidisciplinary teams effectively.

By the end of the fellowship, participants will achieve proficiency in managing complex pulmonary and pleural disorders, preparing them for consultant roles in interventional pulmonology. Certification from Apollo Hospitals and the opportunity for international observerships enhance the global relevance of this program.
